23 year old Sabita Mahoto, daughter of Sri Chavan Mahoto, a fisherman, basically from saran district of Bihar, has marked herself for her cause and for being an inspiration to many more. Sabita, a motivational hiker who has already hiked mountains which are 5000 meter high is now cycling around the country with a cause to promote “pedaling for women safety”
Sabita started her cycling journey on 27 January 2017 and has now covered Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu to name a few. Till date she has pedalled 15 states and aims to cover the whole of India in the days to come.
Sharing her experiences, Sabita says intially she faced problems with Accommodation in unknown places. Few people didnt believe or understand her motto then. Strangers would pass lame comments during her journey and try demotivating her with mocking looks and taunting grins. She says it took sometime for her to over come these and today it doesn’t matter or move her an inch. She states confidently that she will achieve and complete her journey soon and will prove that women can achieve their dreams if they are determined.
After completing her first 500 kms of cycling, Sabita gained the support for accommodation and basic needs from the Police Department with the help of an attested letter explaining her cause. She says she has gained respect wherever she has stayed and also the roadside mechanics service her cycle for free when they realise she is doing this for an able cause.
“I will achieve my dream and destination soon. I will make everyone feel proud of me. Nothing can stop me now” says brave Sabita
Mount Supat in Uttarkhand (5,000 meters high) was conquered by Sabita. She has also climbed Satopanth (Uttrakhand), Kedardome (Uttrakhand), Gourichen (Andhra Pradesh), Renock and Sotke Kangri (Ladakh) and now young Sabita aims to Climb Mount Everest soon. She says she is simultaneously doing all the preperations for the hike and is waiting for sponsors as the hike would roughly cost her around 24 lakhs.
